Torch Hydrangea is a mounding deciduous shrub with strong upright red stems and leathery rich green leaves.  The cone-shaped panicles that open creamy white and mature to bright red by fall bloom earlier than most hydrangeas.  While can tolerate full sun, its best blooms are in part sun and rich, moist well-drained acidic soils.  Torch has high resistance to root rot.
