Monrovia® Texas Purple Japanese Wisteria is a fast-growing twining deciduous vine with compound dark green leaves that emerge bright green and turn yellow in fall.  The drooping raceme sporting fragrant pea-like blueish-purple flowers bloom on new growth shortly before the new leaves emerge, attracting bees and butterflies in spring followed by velvety green bean-like seedpods that persist to winter.  Blooms best in full sun and well-drained acidic soil.  Needs support to limb, or can be trained as a bush or small tree.
