  • Description

CrimsonCrisp Apple is a vigorous deciduous tree known for its abundant fruits that ripen in early fall with a month long harvest season. These crimson fruits have coarse crisp flesh with a sweet rich flavor and notes of honey and caramel. Grows best with full sun and rich well drained soils.  CrimsonCrisp is immune to apple scab and resistant to apple rust.  Needs a pollinator to set fruit and 900 chill hours, but can store for 3+ months.

This selection is grafted onto a B.118 root, which is a semi-standard root and gives it greatly improved hardiness, improved fireblight resistance, and an earlier harvest time.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: High Maintenance.  Water Regularly.  Potential issues include apple scab, cedar apple rust, fire blight, leaf spot and and powdery mildew.  Possible pests are aphids, maggots, boreres, and spider mites.  Most commercially available Apples are grafted onto their rootstock, resulting in dwarf (8-10ft), Semi-dwarf (12-15ft) or standard tree heights all with full sized fruits.  Ask the provider the rootstock classification for estimated size.  Dwarf stock is easier to maintain and produces fruit at an earlier age.
